If there is not enough space in front of the valve then this tool simply cannot be used as it requires 4 or 5 inches of clearance in front of the valve (where the pipe goes). For that I give 4 stars. Adding to this disadvantage, it pulls the nut (and therefore the compression ring) out with ease. I've replaced over a dozen valves and want to use new nuts and new copper rings. Can work in working condition. Let's face it, when we need this tool, it's usually not an ideal situation. That didn't work for me. The compression sleeve did not move. The cuff was draped over a CPVC pipe, like a ring on a finger in summer. The CPVC was crushed by the compression sleeve, leaving a dent in the tube. (picture ring/finger).
