Stable and comfortable

Easy to assemble and very durable. Just make sure you don't have oversized tires before ordering this or the tire could hit the tail light if you open the tailgate all the way. It would be very easy to crack or break the lamp lens if you are not careful and try to open the door too quickly. Fit and door clearance are fine for my regular sized tires. This is a great way to add some storage space in the van and move a heavy and uncomfortable tire to a much more accessible position.

Strong, but bad parameters for a car.

I had to change tire service. It's silly that they made a rack that sits on the slamming side of the door (needs to close the door with difficulty). The weight of the tire on the door will eventually destroy the door where the jamb attaches to the door. I had to make a special mount for the tire so the other door doesn't get cleaned when it's closed. If someone has oversized tires, assembly is even more difficult. It would be nice if the manufacturer of these frames would give some thought to…

Cons
  • Negative impression

Installation was easy although two holes had to be drilled in the left rear door panel. (This was installed in a double hatchback van). The fit wasn't very good. I put a full size spare from a '91 Dodge B350 on the trunk. It fit there, but the big hoop limited the door to about 90 degrees. The tire also interfered with the other door swinging past the tire, forcing me to shakily close the doors and close the doors together to allow the right-hand door to go past the tire. In the long run, the…
