This is better than we expected so it is not intended for everyday outdoor play in the garden. The fleece lining inside is super soft and my son was literally moaning and moaning about it. First of all my son LOVES this sweater. It's heavier than a regular hoodie, so it's great for not-quite-wintry weather. My son is 4'8' and weighs 64 pounds (yes he's a beanstalk, and yes he eats. A LOT!). I ordered a large based on other reviews and it fits him perfectly. He usually wears a medium or 7/8 Children's Place top and I'd say it fits him just as well.
