Cheap junk, not worthy of the Tandy name

I had a similar Tandy awl many years ago. It was a great tool. Unfortunately it went into storage when I was sent overseas and I needed it again recently so I bought it. This Taiwanese junk isn't worth the money or the Tandy name. The assembly is poor, the collet does not tighten well, the needle constantly detaches from the poorly made handle. This is the tool you would expect from a dollar store. not Tandy.

I don't know what everyone else got, but what I got was crap.

I don't know what everyone else got but what I got was crap. First, the awl doesn't match the instructions on the web. The thread cannot be passed through the center as shown in the instructions, and the needle attached to it is too small for the thread attached to it. The screw holding the spool is only threaded at the very end, causing it to stick out at the other end and the spool is never tight as instructed. In addition, the threads at the receiving end are almost threadless, so that even…

Works very well - sewing supplies and supplies

I used this to sew some straps and buckles onto a pallet truck to stabilize boxes that seem to move when being moved over uneven concrete and concrete edges . I watched a few YouTube videos and once I figured out which side of the needle I needed, all went well. When working with thick fabrics, leather, etc., thimbles and the method of stabilizing parts work better than no thimble. (I used small paper clips to hold the pieces together and hold them in place as I sew. I'm not an experienced…

There are probably better ones, but this one works.

Although this awl works well, it took some time to hold the needle properly, MANY MORE PROBLEMS! I used to have a similar awl, also made of wood, and I wanted a duplicate. To my regret, I did not pay due attention to the appearance of the awl. My other awl uses a more traditional cap that screws onto the collet without tools. This cap also hides holes in the wooden handle for storing other needles. This awl requires a small wrench to get the job done. Fortunately, the key can be stored inside…

Leatherworker 6th finger!

I bought this item because I wanted to learn how to work with leather. Without a sewing machine that can sew leather, this is ideal. You can sew almost anything in place with this little hand stapler, and if you're still using it for leather, people will always love something that's made by hand and not by machine! This product does its job of sewing really well. Changing the needles is easy, as is the spool of thread. Actually, I have two of them, I got the second after the first, and this is…

Great tool if you don't have a sewing machine

Modify the one I had that held 9mm magazines up to 18 rounds by lengthening each of the straps that hold the magazines. Not having access to a sewing machine heavy enough for this sewing job and not wanting to carry it to a shoe repair shop to have it modified, I decided to do it myself and ordered a Leather Factory and a 5-Yard - Backstitch sewing awl. 1-1/2" roll of nylon webbing at Revain.com. The instructions and chart that came with the sewing awl were easy to follow and very helpful as I…

Not a very good deal.

What if you find out you bought this because you thought it would come with more than one needle like everyone else on the market, don't count on it. Even if you think this is easy to set up as a flat binder, don't hold your breath. The only thing that is better is that the spool cannot snag. But so that the thread enters the central hole where the needle shank is placed. Then you might have to disassemble the thing to thread it through the hole. Because it's not possible with a full roll in a…

great product Must have repair tool

Really strong and amazing tool. Style and quick stitch are mainly quality and needles. Quick stitch - poor quality, but has an advantage. Regular thread sewing machine needles can be used. that would make it a little more versatile. but Backstitch is much better in quality and ease of use. He doesn't take needles from a high-speed sewing machine because they're not interchangeable. I have one of these in my emergency room. Years of experience in the industry and their quality tools reflect…
