Tandy Leather Sewing Awl 1216 00 Review

I had a similar Tandy awl many years ago. It was a great tool. Unfortunately it went into storage when I was sent overseas and I needed it again recently so I bought it. This Taiwanese junk isn't worth the money or the Tandy name. The assembly is poor, the collet does not tighten well, the needle constantly detaches from the poorly made handle. This is the tool you would expect from a dollar store. not Tandy.

I don't know what everyone else got but what I got was crap. First, the awl doesn't match the instructions on the web. The thread cannot be passed through the center as shown in the instructions, and the needle attached to it is too small for the thread attached to it.
