Bad Calibration - Taylor 5925N Freezer/Fridge Thermometer - Do Not Buy

Bought two Taylor Precision 5925N to monitor a new Fridge/Freezer. Couldn't figure out why the freezer isn't cooling as it should when the fridge is fine. I checked the comparative calibration of the two devices by placing them side by side in the freezer and after 24 hours they showed a 6 degree difference. See attached photo. With a nominal operating range of 0 to 40, this means 15% calibration error, poor processing control, reliance on lack of "accuracy” and outright product failure.

Couldn't read properly

I got a thermometer because I used to have two Taylors but I forgot to get it when my fridge broke and was replaced with a new one after I got it and following the installation instructions in the post, i found it was the same as i received it, i thought it was just me, so i took it to 5 of my neighbors to try, i wasted an hour and a half of my good ones Time. not to mention my neighbors and it's worse than it was at first. I also ran out of money I paid, it might just be mine but don't think…

You NEED one of these if you have a fridge or freezer!

is well built and does the job well. It's easy to read and has foolproof labels for proper storage temperature of cold and frozen foods. Working in military catering, I cannot stress enough the importance of having a thermometer in your cold stores. how else do you know your groceries are stored properly? you don't.if you don't have thermometers. I noticed that the temperature in my freezer wasn't what it should be. it was almost 10 degrees too warm! After adjusting the setup everything was…

How I got the suction cups to hold firmly in my freezer

At first I encountered the same problem that many reviewers reported: the suction cups weren't holding up well enough to support the weight of the thermometer. Since I bought a thermometer to use in the freezer I decided to try freezing it in place. With the suction cups still attached to the thermometer, I wet the bottom of each suction cup, squeezed it firmly, and then removed the thermometer. There is a tiny hole in the center of the suction cup that will release air when you press it down…

Comparison of Taylor 5925N and CDN FG80 thermometers

Bought four fridge/freezer thermometers to measure the kitchen and garage fridge/freezer. I bought two models Taylor 5925 and CDN FG80. From the reviews it was not clear to me why I should choose one thermometer over the other. The thermometers are almost identical in size and design. The CDN FG80 covers a slightly wider temperature range: 80°F high vs. 74°F for the Taylor, and -40°F vs. -28°F low. Unless you're measuring something colder or warmer than a traditional freezer or refrigerator…

Pros
  • understandable for the old one too
