Good instrument, great price

This is my first instant read thermometer so I have no comparison. But it serves my purpose well. Usual sadistic packaging.

Pros
  • Dot matrix display with 3/8" digits makes it easy to read the data at a glance.
Cons
  • I won't say anything

Great Handy Tool - Thermometer and Timer

While not exactly "instant", this is a handy and fairly accurate thermometer. It's easy to use, easy to read, easy to clean, etc. I used to use a candy thermometer to check the temperature of meat - that's a real step up!

Pros
  • This accurate thermometer has a temperature range of -58 to 446 degrees Fahrenheit making it ideal for cooking.
Cons
  • flimsy

Thermometer Taylor 508

The Taylor 508 is very fast and accurate, not to mention its affordable price. We have had one for many years. I found it stopped working after falling in salt water. My wife advised me not to do it again. This is the exact replacement. Thank goodness it came quickly.

Pros
  • Heavy Duty
Cons
  • Damaged

Mine worked pretty well.

I bought mine in December 2006. The battery is just dead. Luckily a great person posted a guide on how to change the battery in another review. Otherwise I don't know if I would have understood it. I've used it every week for as long as I've had it. It's not waterproof as I found out when my father-in-law dunked it. but he dried up and continued to work. I'll probably spend a lot more on my next digital thermometer to get faster readings, but this has been very helpful. Now he's telling me what

Pros
  • Sturdy construction
Cons
  • Not automatic
