Description of 🍭 Taylor Precision Candy and Deep Fry Thermometer, 0.75" Display, White

PROGRAMMABLE WITH ALERT SYSTEM: This thermometer has a programmable feature so the vibrant green backlight will flash until one of the bottom three buttons is pressed to turn the flashing off. SPECIALLY ENGINEERED PAN CLIP: Adjustable pan clip will hang on tight to most pans so the thermometer will not get dislodged during stirring. TILTED HEAD FOR VISIBILITY: Head of the thermometer is tilted at the perfect angle so the large 0.75 inch display can avoid condensation and can be seen easily. WILL NOT SCRATCH PANS: The 9 inch stainless steel stem has a blunt end so it will not scratch most pans. Note: for accurate readings, make sure the thermometer stem tip does not touch the bottom of the pan. HIGHLY ACCURATE: This digital thermometer has a high temperature range and measures from -40F to 500F (-40C to 260C), great for candy making and deep frying. BATTERY INCLUDED: One CR2032 battery is installed in the thermometer for your convenience. IMPORTANT: Thermometer will be hot after use. Use potholders or oven mitts when handling hot thermometer. One (1) year limited warranty (excluding batteries) so you can make your purchase with confidence.

Due to some negative reviews I hesitated to buy this product. But after several baking blogs mentioned it being one of the top ten recommended baking thermometers, I took a chance. First of all I would like to say that before using any product, especially this one, you should read the instructions on the back. Because many of the complaints I've read in the negative reviews could have been resolved simply by reading the instructions at the end before using. Second, the liquid inside can…

Great thermometer after assembly!

When I read the negative reviews I was rather skeptical about buying it. But since my old digital candy thermometer died and I'm trying to make more caramels and high-temp sugars this season, I needed something to rely on. I've received them specifically as a recommended product from several candy bloggers. So I have 2, one as a backup. I did a calibration: did a dry run with water only; to ensure that a) they were read correctly and b) I could read them clearly. Both are very important…

  • Delivery was very fast
Cons
  • Sad device

Problem solved, something like this: Thermometer moves

When my favorite caramel recipe failed twice, I looked at the new thermometers and saw that David Lebowitz and other chefs recommended Taylor's Classic, so I ordered a thermometer that arrived, I did a boiling water test (place the thermometer in a saucepan with at least three inches of water, bring it to a boil, and boil it for five minutes) and saw the thermometer read 212 degrees consistently. This would be ideal at or near sea level, but at my elevation the water should boil at 203 degrees.
