I opened the box, pulled out, plugged into a USB 3 port and powered. Connected to my IDE hard drive, after adjusting the power supply, the drive read like it does on my computer. Removed everything from the hard drive and used the downloaded program to clean the hard drive. Everything worked without any problems. Easy to use, no complicated settings and I didn't even need a guide. It just worked!

For 3.5" IDE and SATA hard drives, this item is perfect. The read/write speeds meet all my expectations and it performs like a champ. But 2.5 inch laptop IDE hard drives will NOT fit in the slot. They only fit if I take the dock apart and cut 1/8 inch of the plastic off the slot to allow the hard drive case to fit. The product doesn't live up to its promise:1. It does not support 2.5 inch IDE drives. The top of the drive connector in the box is flush with the plastic shroud and there is no way to insert a drive into the slots. It would work if the notch around the plug was bigger. I've been using this docking station for a few days and I'm very happy with it. The transparent case looks great and the internal LED indicators are not only functional but also look cool. I recovered about 10 disks with it and it still works. SATA drives are hot-swappable. Haven't tried hot swapping an IDE drive. Copying files seems pretty fast.
