Not exactly. suitable for kitchen utensils and appliances

Inaccurate. I've added it to meat several times and gotten a different temperature each time. O cooked pork and the thermometer said it was done but the meat was still raw inside. Also, it's annoying that it defaults to Celsius. You have to switch it to Fahrenheit every time you use it.

Default in Celsius

If you enable it, it will always be displayed in Celsius. You have to press and hold the button for one second to switch to Fahrenheit. kind of pain. So I taped a little F to C conversion chart on the back. Maybe I'll just learn the metric system. It's just enough for cooking.

A neat little device well worth the price.

It has an automatic shut-off and is quite accurate, which is very important for cheese making. Boiled some water and it showed 99.9 C / 211.9 F. Used it to make blue cheese and everything worked fine. Removed the plastic "buffer tape" where the batteries are to use it and put it back in place so the batteries don't run out sooner when I'm done.

The default is Celsius. Not so hot what's up. Excellent light reader.

Great for the price. Base. Exactly what I needed as I lose my thermometers a lot and don't want to spend a lot on them. The display is bright and really easy to read. I want it to stay in Fahrenheit mode, but by default it keeps running in Celsius. I guess it's the American in me waiting for the world to match my measurement preferences.

Works best occasionally in the kitchen and dining room

Always starts in Celsius so that was annoying. This is incorrect. Used it on a turkey breast for Thanksgiving and absolutely loved it. It worked great. Used it on pork tenderloin for dinner the other day. He read that all three were ready (in fact I was worried because they said they were about 5-10 degrees higher). Took them out and left them and cut some for the little kids and found all three were raw inside. Dinner took another twenty minutes.
