I was a little apprehensive about this setup on my mountain bike stem. I have the 34- mm outside diameter measured which is the usual size mountain bikes where it is the clamps there are 2 removable plastic pieces (no rubber) that you can take out so it fits perfectly the question wasn't the width between the bolts but the Screws...not long enough to reach unless you pull out the standoffs.While the illustrated instructions (no words) don't tell you to, I think you should be fine.

The problem wasn't the width between the screws, it was that the screws weren't long enough to reach them unless the spacers were removed. Although the graphical instructions (not words) don't tell you this, I think it should be fine.
