Enhanced GXRTQR Tier1 Inline Replacement Review

The first filter I installed leaked so I had to install a second one. I sealed the seat of the first one to see if I can use it when I change the new one in six months. I didn't want to have to deal with the return.

Leaking inlet valves in GE quick coupler system. There were other reviews telling me it would happen but I guess I thought I might get lucky. NO! Tried to use dope tape but that didn't work. I still had the old GE filter so I unscrewed the inlet valve and replaced it with a GE valve with a new gasket. A painful hour wasted.

I don't know how effective the filters are. I bought two and both leaked after installation. I reinstalled the old GE filter and no leaks. Put one of these back on, a nice even drop from the inlet end. Tried another, same thing. We put the GE filter back in place, not a drop, completely dry. Too bad GE doesn't make them anymore.

I was rightly skeptical about the reviews. This filter is not the same at all. It weighs about half as much as the original dry, so has about half as much activated charcoal. It now costs about half as much and has the same fast connections, so you might be fine with that. But ads placed that claim to be as good or even better than ge are misleading at best, but most likely intentionally misleading.

Okay, after washing the filter and after a few weeks of use, I noticed a weird aftertaste, like something synthetic or plastic, I couldn't tell but I left it because I thought it was my imagination and no one else was complaining. . Six months later I decided to cut up the filter and found Synthetic Foam. I was expecting some kind of paper filter…

Nice filter but it has no ends to attach directly to the pipe. My mistake for not reading carefully. It is designed for a fast connection. I unscrewed the ends, bought 2 brass compression MPT X's and the job is fixed. BTW this was bought because I have a 4 year old expensive Samsung fridge with a built in spruce ice and water filter that makes a horrible noise when the water is dissipating. I repaired the filter and its housing. Bought an expensive original replacement and it helped a bit but…
