All 3 of our entry level color cartridges suddenly showed 'empty' at around the same time. These reset chips came quickly from Prime and are very similar to the factory chips. Old chips are not easy to remove as there are tabs on each side to hold them in place. I used an X-acto knife and nearly destroyed one of the burrs on the first chip removal. I am low on toner and need to be replaced. I replaced the chip and have been using the same toner for a few months. Highly recommend anyone using a Ricoh printer to do this before changing the toner

There are lots of videos on the Internet that show step-by-step how to change chips and how to refill toner cartridges. All you need is a utility knife and tape. Anyone can do this.

This is the greatest thing since the invention of the printer cartridge. The printer counts the number of pages for each color cartridge. I'm pretty sure this doesn't take into account how much paint was used as that would be quite difficult and probably expensive to measure. I can only assume that for every tiny patch of color used on a page, there was a whole page listed for that color, probably counting as a supposedly average page with some font and lots of color charts. A bit mad at Ricoh because there is no reboot function! What else can I say? Ordered, received, printed again in 15 minutes. I would recommend trying this first before buying new cartridges or toner. I add more toner as needed.

My toner cartridges were still full when the chips counted the pages printed. This helped me use what was left until I saw the pages were running out of toner. It took 3 months and 250 pages AFTER the originals said I was out of toner. I then refilled them and left those chips on until the end of the countdown and then put in the ones I ordered with spare toner. A great way to save money and use ALL toner!
