I really like the concept of this case but this is the second one I've bought and they both broke in the same places. The problem arises because the hinges at the top of the lid break off. I'm very careful with my 3DS (hence buying this case) but the hinges on both devices broke fairly quickly with light use. The ground is still holding, but I'm only half protected. If this design flaw is fixed, I will definitely buy it.

The top is great although I'm not a fan of the bottom half. However, the top half is compatible with most accessories that attach to the bottom half of the 3ds XL. I use the bottom half charging handle and the top of this case doesn't bother it much. This will significantly increase the volume of your system and add some weight, especially in the top half. This is a really great hard plastic cover perfect for new 3DS systems. But what I really like is that the interior has a cloth material that protects the console from rubbing against the hard plastic and from scratches. Many hard covers don't have this feature and what happens is that after a while the console tends to move due to normal use and movement on the hard plastic.
