Didn't even last a year

Do not buy this car. We bought it as a gift in 2001 and it didn't even last a year. We bought the "Hyundai HDP-550S DVD Player" in 2002 at a significantly lower price and it is still in demand. We only use our DVD player to watch movies and do not use any other features (zoom, slow down, etc.).

Pros
  • This is amazing
Cons
  • No instructions

The sound doesn't work; DVD player less than a year old

I bought this DVD player for my husband for Christmas last year because it was voted Best Buy by Consumer Report. We recently rented a DVD and had to turn the TV volume all the way down to hear the sound. The problem is with the DVD player, not the TV. We are very disappointed! waste of money!

Pros
  • Great price
Cons
  • Some flaws

Bang for the dollar! suitable for TV and video

I got fed up with my GE1105P jumping and freezing, so I broke down and bought a Tos SD-1700. I LIKE IT! Tried all my bad CDs - X-Men, Enemy of the State etc. and NO PROBLEMS! The remote control is small and has no backlight, but is simple and easy to see. The player has a good range of features and the picture and sound quality is excellent.

Pros
  • Slim design
Cons
  • Not as thick as other picks

SD1700 Toshiba DVD in DVD players

I bought this player in August 2001. I haven't had a single problem with it so far. I had a Samsung 511 that was bad from day one and broke down three weeks after it was "repaired". As far as features go, I'm not the type of person who wants a DVD player, TV, or VCR that does everything except cook dinner. So everything is fine. I rarely use most of the advanced features. As an owner of 50 DVDs and renting about a dozen DVDs a year, I can say this machine works flawlessly.

Pros
  • Fits me great
Cons
  • Easy maintenance

Utilitarian. on TV & Video

This affordable unit does a great job playing standard DVDs. It also plays audio CDs. There are composite video outputs, but if you have a monitor/TV that can use them, you bet you'll opt for the fancier DVD player. There's a SuperVideo output for those who can't use composites (and RCA outputs for those who can't), good Dolby/DTS audio outputs for your sound system (or a basic RCA output if you're just playing it). want). . on a traditional TV) as well as multiple zoom levels and screen…

Pros
  • Highest support and durability ratings from testers
Cons
  • Security
