Exceptional picture from this VCR

This is one of the best VCRs I have seen in a while. In all honesty, this unit plays VHS tapes and delivers one of the best pictures on the market today. I saw one of these when I bought it. The picture was great. The color registration looked good on the ultra-slim Panasonic TV it was played on. The resolution was great. VHS tapes usually look bad against a good TV. This was not the case here! Just thought I'd share my reaction.

Pros
  • Front audio video access
Cons
  • Questionable purchase for seniors

Great picture, cool features

This VCR delivers excellent picture sharpness and clarity. The RW/FF speed is also great. My favorite feature was a total surprise: the VCR reads the sub-channel information and even displays the name of the current program on screen during commercials on many channels! However, programming and timer recording leave a lot to be desired. It is not possible to record a program more than once (ie every day, once a week). In my area the VCRPlus channels don't match what the VCR thinks and manual…

Pros
  • High speed forward and rewind
Cons
  • Legacy model

Good machine - bad instructions

Unless you are very, very good at programming such things yourself, the frustration of understanding the tuning instructions for this machine can lead you to wanting to just give it back and start over. something else. Of course, there are multiple ways to set up your VCR, stereo, cable box, and TV, but there has to be an easier way to show you how to program a VCR. And a key step we needed to record the time was completely missing (we found that out just before I started reading the return…

Pros
  • Automatic station search with memory for tuning channels
Cons
  • Poor instructions
