My First SSD - Internal SSDs

Fantastic. Lightning fast. Windows 10 boots right after the Bios message. I usually shy away from some programs that take longer to load, like Steam or Adobe Creative Cloud, but I don't even have to. Maybe I'm too excited, but this is my first SSD. Long story short, I needed a clean install (the old one was dying), I'd just bought an HDD and was about to scrap SSDs because I felt they were too expensive. But this thing is pretty cheap, so I said "fuck it" and bought it, made it a boot disk, and

Pros
  • Supports Dev Sleep mode, which allows devices to completely disable the SATA interface and save battery power, as opposed to existing partial/sleep modes
Cons
  • Reliability

No matter what I do with my configuration, I can't get it to work according to the specs. However, it's significantly faster than the standard 2.5-inch SSDs that are flooding the market today. I tried installing it directly on the board, did all the BIOS work and tried it on the PCIe adapter board, no difference. Therefore, the traits may be exaggerated, or just that particular card. It's still more than fast enough to stay SATA-centric compared to everything else, but doesn't match the newer…

Great little SSD!: Computers and accessories

After finding out that my Asus MB would accept this M2, I went in search of it. I've read other posts that said some discs get hot so I was cautious when buying. So far I haven't noticed any heat issues with this drive. After migrating my OS from a 120GB Samsung to this M2, my PC boots even faster. It was very stable even when I leave my computer on for 3-4 days. I use this HDD exclusively for the OS (Win7) and my data is stored on 2 mirrored 2TB normal HD. This drive provides enough storage…

My first SSD and I'm just shocked.

Last year I built a computer from very cheap components, the only good thing was the motherboard (MSI Gaming 7 Z97). ) and PSU (Corsair 850W) like every other part could easily be upgraded in the future (i3-4130, waiting for the i7 Broadwell to be more affordable; 4GB RAM; Intel HD Graphics; and a cheap 1TB HDD , which I had lying around). Little by little I started upgrading all the components, 24GB RAM and two 7970 Crossfire graphics cards and now a 512GB SSD. I noticed that the mobo has an…

Perfect for HTPC Best for internal SSDs

I've never used Transcend products, but this M.2 SSD is relatively cheap compared to other big brands. So I ordered the 512GB 80mm version for my HTPC build. Installation ------------ The installation into the M.2 slot of my ASUS H97I-Plus went smoothly. Windows 8.1 found the SSD with no problems and the OS installation completed quickly. long) Version with "B&M Edge Connector". The "B button" edge is 6 pins wide and the "M button" edge is 5 pins wide. Compatibility was my biggest concern but I

M.2 is the way to go! **Updated with firmware update instructions***

I purchased this M.2 as an inexpensive bootable SSD for my new X99 system and have not been disappointed. It works just as well as my Intel SSD which is less than two years old and at a better price than their current SSD of the same size. I was concerned as I've never used Transcend's SSD option, but so far it's been a great budget choice. If you have a newer motherboard that can install M.2 I would buy that unless you need a larger boot drive. I bought this for my MSI X99 SLI Plus and I'm…
