A nearby lightning strike destroyed my DSL modem and the ethernet port of the computer connected to it. I had this unit for over a year to protect my DSL modem after losing my modem to a power surge on my phone line. Last night a big storm broke out and cut off my internet. Compact, unobtrusive and wireless! Indicator lights make it easy to check if they are working. I haven't had a major surge yet so I'm not sure they will do the job. I even tried connecting 3 different 3-prong grounding plugs (laptop and 2 different microwave ovens) across it; it was tight.
