When used correctly, wonderful cells are created in cast acrylic paintings!

When pouring acrylic paints, this silicone oil - when used in the right proportion to the paints used - creates beautiful cells. Many appear immediately during application or pouring, others then rise and continue to emerge as the poured acrylic settles, liquifies, and begins to harden. An excellent choice for those new to acrylic casting who want cell development.

But the price is great.

I was really hoping to use this for pouring paint. As usual I read the reviews before buying but thought maybe I'll grab a 'good' bottle and be a guy who had a great experience. To be honest the only good thing I can say about the product is that it arrived sealed and with the lid on as expected. No matter what ratio I used in the mixing cup, the cells just wouldn't pop out, even when heated. One would think that its consistency compared to color would easily expose the cells. Boy was I wrong…

not a cell, not a single one!

My wife, daughter and I did the same project by mixing resin, adding paint and a few drops of silicone oil and then watering the ceramic tile. My daughter and I have used 3 in 1 brand silicone oil (purchased from Home Depot for about $4) and have had amazing results with a wonderful array of cells. My wife agreed to try this oil and was bitterly disappointed. Again, NO cells! However, she was able to salvage her project by dripping 3-in-1 oil directly onto the blank and working with toothpicks…
