Serious drawback - the balls spin freely. This will result in whatever you mount on it splashing around in the water, making it impossible to line up the lights for a shot. If this problem was solved, it would be great.

It looks solid and fits well. The two 1/4 screws shown in the picture were not included in the kit, one of them turns often. So I have to order some separately which is a bit disappointing but other than that it's great for the price.

So I just got it, if that doesn't change that means it gets 4 stars. The aluminum is beautiful and it is ergonomically and functionally well designed. However, the screws for adjusting the length of the tray must be supplemented with nuts to secure them from behind and washers. Also, the left ball screws appear to be missing washers at the top of the handle as there is a washer for each screw on the right side. Otherwise a lot.

This tray and handles are useless as the balls on top of the handles spin. Whether or not you tighten the screws doesn't help as there's no pin or retainer to stop them from turning. When you add levers and video lights, they don't stay in place because the balls are spinning. Never seen anything like this. So unimpressed. It will be back in the morning. AVOID!

I bought version B of this camera tray to install flashes and video lights which this tray cannot. As other reviewers have pointed out, the ball joints in the grips rotate, rendering them unusable. I thought I could fix this by filling the bottom of the ball joint with epoxy, but that didn't help stop it from turning as the epoxy has nothing to hold. Also, I had to use a dremel to open up the staggered holes where the handles attach to the tray with screws. I rarely write reviews but this item…

The left ball spins freely. I removed the ball to tighten the screw holding it in place, but the screw was only as tight as it could be. I could not move. The right ball was hard and didn't move. Also, the tray is off-center. After installing the camera, it was a good inch closer to my right hand. You can even see the off-center mount in the promotional image. I think I'll spend the $20 more and get a reliable one. Another problem. The small 1/4" screw that holds the camera to the shelf needs…
