works well enough with one exception

The contour gauge works well enough provided you don't have to punch around a corner. The reason it doesn't work in the corner is because of the protruding black part. I don't know if there is a product that doesn't have a protrusion like this one, and this product doesn't protrude as much as the others, but this product just doesn't work when you have to push the contour gauge all the way. Corner. Other than that I think it works well enough and I would highly recommend it to carpenters.

I suggest you pay a little more for one with a lock. It works but I miss the blocking.

I suggest you pay a little more for one with a lock. The right level of precision for things like cutting tile, flooring, and adjusting basic shapes. This is not for fine woodworking. Could be used on my baseboard at home but since it doesn't have a lock I couldn't use it to take a profile and then take it to the store to buy the same profile. If you only use it at home it's fine, it will keep its shape as long as you move it from the object to be measured to your stuff.

Size matters with sensors

could have been chosen I have a smaller version of this from another vendor and loved every minute of it. I was working on a project in my bathroom and my 6" version just didn't work. This version, which is a full 10 inches, made it a lot easier to create templates around the pipe. I always place it on a flat surface to align it and then press it against what I'm trying to get a copy of. enough resistance to prevent accidental "nudges".
