Volvo Alternator Bushing

I have two of these bushings to replace worn bushings on an alternator bracket on a Volvo 240. I used to replace the bushings with cheaper rubber bushings that lasted several thousand miles. They are much stronger and once installed I was able to tighten the belt without the alternator deflecting and the belts shifting.

Pros
  • Brackets
Cons
  • Don't really like it, everything is fine

Excellent bushings in alternators and alternators

They are needed to hold the alternator, steering pumps etc. Traditional rubber bushings also fail because the drive belts are misaligned and squeak. It's an upgrade and worth it, you don't have to be a racer to want them, they're just better. Only thing is it took me four to fit the steering pump, they came in three different batches, I was able to handle the lag but someone who needs their car might not have the luxury of servicing.

Pros
  • Alternators and alternators
Cons
  • I will add later

I really like these bushings

I really like these bushings. I installed them on a 1991 Volvo 740 sedan. I found it necessary to scrape the oxidized aluminum off the alternator bracket to get the new bushings in. They fit perfectly and need to be hammered in directly with a soft mallet. These bushings fixed the belt squeak caused by alternator misalignment due to warning bushings. I have used bushings of a similar material on the suspension components of the same car and have found them to be very durable.

Pros
  • Starters and Alternators
Cons
  • Weight
