Valterra 6201 Gate Valve White Review

I bought two of these valves 3 years ago to shut off the water in my hot tub so I can service the heater without draining it. They worked great but there was a small leak when draining last winter. Tightening the screws didn't help so I ordered 2 more and replaced the spacers and center section. They're way better than one-piece valves that you can't service.

I bought several of these for use in a feed storage project on my small farm. The valves open and close easily and my kids can do it which is great. I don't know how they hold the liquid, but they hold the grain in place well until we turn on the faucet. There are some issues with closing the valves after the grain has been delivered, but that's mainly because they aren't being used for their intended purpose. (Some sand gets into the seal.) They are a great alternative to ball valves especially larger sizes due to their much lower cost. However, there are a few things to note: 1. They are not really designed to restrict the flow of water. They work but can be slow to self-close due to the weight of the valve.2.
