Vented Microwave Silicone Hardened Tempered Review

I like the fact that it's made of glass but it's too shallow and only fits on a plate not a bowl of food. I went back to BPA-free plastic that's at least big enough to fit on top of my baked apples.

I forgot to take a picture of the broken glass but you can see all the broken pieces in the area under my microwave. I used it a few times before it broke. Not very dangerous, but definitely annoying!

After having this product for over a year, after normal use it accidentally exploded in my face leaving only a pen in my hand (see photo). I don't know why the broken glass didn't get in my eyes, but I'm grateful. There is broken glass on my kitchen floor, countertops and even in the hallway next to the kitchen. This thing is incredibly dangerous and should be taken off the market. DO NOT BUY.

I went with this after having a deeper plastic model. I allowed for a lower height when ordering, but when I took it out of the box I knew it wouldn't work for many of my heating tasks. JUST the fact that I have a Rachel Ray dinner plate with tall sides of the exact same diameter allows me to create a plate that I can use with this lid that provides some height above the food so it does that Barely touched food. It also fits 1 or 2 bowls and the handle is well designed.

Very well made product. It's best for reheating food on a plate (as the name suggests) as it's only 2 inches high in the center. It can be used with other containers but be aware that it is VERY heavy glass and only covers the top. My microwave sits over a glass cooktop and I am very careful when removing this cover. I doubt the hob would survive if I dropped it. Well made durable case. Easy to clean and the silicone grip is cool to the touch.

I bought this because it was real glass and I didn't have to worry about petrochemicals leaking out of the traditional plastic lid. One review talked about how easily the glass shattered, but I actually experienced the opposite. I was careful with it, but I dropped it once and sustained no damage. I've been using it for about a year and up until this morning it's been great and dishwasher safe. when it exploded! I ran the dishwasher inside last night (just like before) and unloaded it this morning when out of nowhere this lid popped and glass fell EVERYWHERE. I wish it was a bit taller and had a vent or two, but overall I like it. This case is well made and should last a while. I wish it was a little bigger, but it actually works with pretty much everything I've used it for. It really needs an extra vent or two because it could cause my oatmeal to overcook because the steam/or heat can't come out like it should. Bought with an orange handle.
