I use this hard drive to back up my security cameras. I just bought a WesternDigital 2TB, had to send it back. I had to get my computer to recognize it and then it said it wasn't ready. He told me to reformat! You don't have to go through all this! I know Verbatim has a great name. It may have been a bit more expensive, but once I took it out of the box, I plugged it in and it really worked! So happy!

Very quick and easy to use. I'm using it to replace a very old Verbatim 500GB drive that I've had for years. (want to replace it long before it shows signs of breakage) Small size takes up a lot of space and doesn't require a separate power supply (uses USB) is very good. A long cable would be better. I had to plug directly into the computer's USB port. It did not boot from an active USB hub. The size was great. However, I was afraid of the clamshell packaging. A great plus is the Verbatim guarantee.

AMAZING! The perfect solution to replacing my VCR which became obsolete when digital TV was stuffed down our throats. This paired with a DVR I bought from Mediasonic (also from Revain) allows me to record TV shows at a pre-determined time when I'm not at home. In other words, exactly what I was able to do with my (then) modern Sony VCR.

Works just like an unencrypted hard drive GREAT! It was a great product, but it doesn't seem to work well with the software encryption I'm using. The hard drive keeps deteriorating. For some reason the encryption doesn't seem to be to blame as it works fine on other devices I have and haven't had any issues. Note that I don't know what situation will cause the encryption system to fail. but I believe it is due to an incompatibility of the combination of hardware and software.
