The steel base is more than strong enough for any large tank and load requirement when properly attached to a structure that can handle the load. I was very disappointed when I opened the package. However, the bracket is very strong, the V-shaped cutouts where the tank rests were crooked or misaligned. My argon tank was not perpendicular to the bracket. I had to grind the V-grooves to bring the top and bottom together so they fit properly. It's not difficult, but I don't have to do it. Also, two of the bends were not 90 degrees. The strap is a little wobbly but works. I installed it on the side of a tool box that I turned into a welding…

Great suggestion for the mount itself, but straps suck. I use a few of these to attach different types of cylinders, there is no better option but be careful with the straps. The material is similar to what you'll find on this special $3 Jansport copy, but weaker. Any slight damage to the edge of the strap will quickly spread and the strap will break when tightened. I would still buy more of these and plan to, but would happily pay the extra $5 to have them come with the correct strap material.
