The steel base is more than strong enough for any large tank and load requirement when properly attached to a structure that can handle the load. Not sure why there are negative reviews about the strap and buckle. The strap is a thin 1.5 inch thick nylon strap. Anyone familiar with straps knows that this type is rated for at least 500 pounds of static load. That's more than enough to hang on the wall. If you're looking for a mobile transport mount, you'll need to upgrade to 10,000-pound straps to have your tank turn into a flying missile when you're caught in a 40g impact when you crash into a tree. The supplied tape is not such a tape. I think it's a great tank mount.
