The car will not work.

Works fine off machine but freezes on machine. I've tried attaching it to the windshield, visor, cup holder, dashboard, etc. to no avail. Why don't they just put a disclaimer that isn't intended for use in cars?

Pros
  • Absolutely amazing!
Cons
  • Some bugs

Works on interior only

Works great. Once you find a place where the magnetic fields won't bother it. On my 2020 E350 I had to place it high up on the passenger side. From the driver's side. It turned when the engine started. Take your time. And find a good place. My visor even locked in one direction when lowered. As others have said, this is very sensitive to proper placement.

Pros
  • High marks for support and durability from testers
Cons
  • So far so good

Don't waste money.

This compass simply did not work in any of my machines. I could drive in circles and it was always pointing in the same direction, even when the ball was floating. I moved it on both machines and it just didn't work exactly. It worked great for me at home or on the road but I bought it specifically for my car so a waste of money.

Pros
  • Easy to read control panel
Cons
  • I have no particular complaints about it, everything is fine

Which direction are you going!

Most modern cars have a built in compass, but for older models it's inexpensive and works great. Just wet a suction cup and attach it to a window or rearview mirror, and you can rest assured that you're driving east, not west, on that freeway or country road. I use mine for work so I can plan when is the best time to get to work; like after the sun on the other side of the house!

Pros
  • Pretty impressive
Cons
  • Poor manual

Will not work in a car or truck

If you are planning on installing this mini compass in a car or truck, DO NOT. No matter where you place the compass, the magnetic interference is too great for a compass to be even remotely accurate. In my garage, not in the car but in the middle of the garage seems safe. Just outside the garage but still not in the car, that seemed pretty accurate. I put it in the car next to the garage and moved it around the car to different places and it showed true north as east on the compass. waste of…

Pros
  • This is great

  • Clarity

Not for current cars

Risked based on 3 star ratings. This compass is completely useless in a new car or truck. Too much metal in the dashboard. I was hoping I could mark a line on it to account for the angle it was at from north, but it didn't move once while in my Honda Ridgeline. However, it shows true north when placed on my kitchen table. Well, if I can think of a way to manage my desk, I will. Luckily I only bought 2 packs. Maybe I'll put the second one on the dining table. I think in case of emergency you can

Pros
  • Handy
Cons
  • Does not go with everything

Will not work in modern cars

These compasses will work if you have a car that does not have electrical currents that create magnetic fields in the windshield area. Otherwise forget it. The directions it points vary widely, sometimes by 180 degrees, depending on how close the compass is to a metal object or, as we said, to electrical currents. The dashboards of modern cars, even the rearview mirror, have magnetic fields created by the electrical currents present in and around these areas, making these compasses relatively…

Pros
  • Easy to use
Cons
  • Secret
