I have many books with initials and every time I discover a new style in a book it stimulates my imagination. It has a few styles that I haven't seen before, so I love it.

It's just not that good. A huge chunk of the book is two letters per page, and I wouldn't make them that big. There are some good alphabets out there, but I wouldn't use any of them. I like the name section the best as it shows the name in a box or more detailed flourishes.

This book has a large selection of letters but unfortunately many of them are small and not well enlarged for my purpose of embroidery. It was released in 1974, so the migration instructions are very outdated - there are much better methods now. I'm sure there would be more modern books better suited to monograms.

Literally: there are 3 JANES in the fancy font name chapter on page J. Anyway, I must warn the needlewomen that there are NO charts here. No charts? How can this be for needlewomen? Because, as the name suggests, it comes from the old and very popular monthly Godey's Lady's Book. There was no graph paper in Victorian times. I've uploaded the cover of my book (in pink) so you can compare it to the latest edition. Mine is $2.50 on the top right front cover. I don't really have much practical use…
