Not very many diagrams! Short templates and not very simple instructions. On page 351 of the book was the poem "Paradise Lost". The first lines are about Satan. Didn't read further. Terrible book! Not one to give to my boyfriend!

Actually contains patterns from the 1930's to 50's. This is a journey into nostalgia, but most of the projects are not outdated today. The patterns are not updated and the materials provided are mostly unavailable at the moment, requiring you to evaluate which thread or yarn works for a particular hook size. I love this book and am very glad it came out.

This book is best for those who have been crocheting for a while, otherwise it can get a little confusing. there are few details in the instructions, or the cutter assumed the user had enough experience to understand what to do without details. As these patterns become obsolete, anyone using them must convert hook sizes to modern hook sizes and available yarns.
