Joyride is the third album by Roxette, released in 1991. It sold over 11 million copies, and the album''s title track entered the top 100 on the Billboard music chart. Release in honor of the 30th anniversary of the album on orange vinyl. This edition includes tracks from the original album and 12 previously unreleased songs, including demos of Per Gessle''s Gyllene Tider from the 1984 album "Heartland Café" - "Run, run, run" and "Another Place, Another Time" ". The energetic duo of Marie Fredriksson and Per Gessle almost instantly became a worldwide phenomenon, paving the way for other Swedish pop stars of the 1990s. Joyride had a difficult task ahead of them: the album was to cement Roxette''s status as a global hit-maker and prove that the chart successes of 1989-1990 were not accidental. Some artists wouldn''t be able to handle that kind of pressure, but Roxette did it. In May, the buoyant title track topped the charts and became the group''s fourth single to top the Billboard Top 100, a feat that no other Scandinavian artist has previously managed to achieve - so far, future singles "Fading Like A Flower", "Spending My Time" and "Church Of Your Heart" was waiting in the wings. The album soon surpassed 11 million copies in sales. Roxette (pronounced "roksat") is a Swedish pop rock band led by Per Gessle (lyricist and music writer, guitar, vocals, harmonica) and Marie Fredriksson (1958 - 2019) (vocal, piano). Like many other Swedish musicians, they performed their songs in English. The name "Roxette" itself comes from the title of a song by Dr. feelgood. The peak of the group''s popularity came in the mid-1990s. During their thirty-year career, the group gave 557 concerts and sold more than 75 million copies of their albums. Roxette''s career began in 1986 when "Neverending Love" was first played on the radio and became a hit on the Swedish stage. The song was originally written in Swedish. It was called "Svarta glas" (in literal translation - Black glasses, or maybe it was Dark glasses). Per Gessle sent this song to Pernilla Wahlgren, but she didn''t want to record it. Then he made an English version, "Neverending Love" and EMI executive Rolf "Roffe" Nygren heard the song and invited Perr Gessle and Maria Fredriksson to sing it together. What they did...
