I've only experienced "low" speed once, maybe twice; the rest of the time it's high speed. Also, for some reason, the pins won't stay in my socket. I don't have this problem with other devices, so I don't know the problem. This is a decent hand blender for all your blending and baking needs. The mixer is very comfortable to hold and the beaters are easy to clean. I love that you can store the whisks on the sides of the mixer, saving a bit of storage space (and ensuring the whisks don't become detached or lost from a real hand mixer). I am so disappointed in this blender. I bought it primarily for making frosting and mixing batters. I hate this blender for many different reasons. The low speed isn't low when you turn it on, it spins so fast your ingredients will be flung all over the place.
