Great waffle maker but beware of the bell.

Great waffle maker. Seems well made and can be a shabby fluffy waffle in about 2-3 minutes. The only reason I'm not giving it a 5 star rating is that it beeps when it reaches the set temperature. It's not a quiet, friendly tune. This temperature signal is loud and harsh. I thought I set off the fire alarm when I first used it. This beep consists of 4 long beeps and is emitted every time you bake a new waffle. I understand that this is to indicate when the waffle is done without having to liftโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Good workmanship
Cons
  • Only available in black

Wanted to go back UNTIL I found the trick

I tried making waffles 3 times then started asking for my return. Each time the waffle was half overcooked and even burnt in places. I decided to try again before sending it to UPS for a refund and FINALLY made a decent batch of waffles. The trick is to NOT use a spray, oil, or other non-stick oil. Pour the mixture into a waffle iron. Make sure it's on to the max and leave it there longer than the light tells you it's ready and check regularly. This way I could finally make regular edibleโ€ฆ

Pros
  • certified GOLS
Cons
  • poorly thought out

Instructions are confusing and difficult to clean

Instructions seem almost backwards. It means turning the knob to 7 (and it only goes to 6) and the light comes on. Let me know it's warmed up enough to pour out the batter. I turned it all the way on and it barely got hot. I could put my hand on a plate and not even feel a tingle. I turned the knob the other way (to 1), the light went out but the plates got hot. The waffles were good. And I liked that it beeped when it was done. Only loud when I was on top of the car but when I was in the nextโ€ฆ
