The idea works great on chickens. fill it up and they'll love it and it keeps them busy; In this regard, the idea gets 5 stars from me. However, this item is not very durable. One of the welds broke the first time I used it as it takes moderate force to fuse the halves of the wire mesh ball together. This is a quality and design issue that the manufacturer should address as soon as possible. I only give one star for durability. My item still works, it just broke at the very beginning.

Also holds a square of natural wheatgrass that I hang upside down as a ball.
