Significant reduction in flow volume.

We bought this for heavy metal removal and it does a great job. We tested the water before and after to confirm this. The problem is how long you have to wait to fill your water bottle or coffee maker. First the flow was reduced to about half the volume and now after about 5 months the flow is about 30% of the normal flow.

Easy installation and clean water.

Very easy installation. I don't know much about plumbing, but this is a very easy install. I don't think it took me 10 minutes. The current is pretty decent and the taste and smell of the water is much better. Definitely eliminates the smell of chlorine in the pool. 19,000 gallons is a plus so now I fill up my Nalgenes daily for work and play. Worth the price.

Economy Filter

While I didn't test the water before or after installing this filter, I know it helps. My water smells like chemicals straight from the tap. This filter leaves water "tasteless" and has a soft mouthfeel. For every house I buy, I add an entire house and an extra drinking water filter, so I've tried many over the years. This one wins for ease of installation and price. However, only a water test can tell exactly what it does.

Reduces water flow. I do NOT recommend.

I used this unit to replace an under counter system that was nearing the end of its life. Unfortunately, the flow is so limited that I may have to pull it out. Thats so bad. My wife will be the final judge, but after being flooded with water for 30 minutes, it didn't get any better. This rating does not relate to filter quality - I have no scientific way of testing it. What can I say, the floor flow is noticeable, unsuccessful and below the acceptable level.

We recommend replacing the filter every 36 months instead of every 8 months.

We recommend replacing the filter every 36 months, not every 8 months for me. I bought it 8 months ago and I see that it needs to be changed. The cold water pressure has dropped dramatically. This means it's time to change. So 36 months = 3 years. This is just an advertisement, many companies use the same technique. Either way, I'll still buy it. I have used it a lot. The taste of water is amazing. Only 4 stars because it claims 36 months otherwise a good and easy to install product.

Not suitable for reverse osmosis mixers with water drops

Tastes good. The process is excellent. Installation is easy. Excellent supply lines, BUT. They do not fit the Water Drop RO faucet. This faucet comes with a 1/4 and 3/8 pressure pipe to connect this thread to the faucet stem. The problem is that the faucet outlet is 3/8 MALE compression and the faucet is also male thread. Try connecting 2 different male threads. I ended up using a piece of 3/8 polyethylene tubing, a compression ring/nut and connecting it to the supplied bolt to connect it to…

This filter is only for the city water source which is already good quality by default. Water quality can be affected by internal pipes, but this is a problem that should be solved by replacing the pipe system instead of installing a filter behind it. I used to use a filter jug (different brand) to soften the water as we have hard water here which not only produces unpleasant tea and coffee but can also damage coffee makers over time.
