Works great with TamoGraph!

I have this to use with wireless mapping software called TamoGraph. I use this adapter to calculate my location while surveying an outdoor area to determine wireless zones. I just plugged the receiver into my Windows 10 laptop, let the driver install automatically, and then launched TamoGraph. He took the GPS receiver and I went!

Pros
  • Positive only
Cons
  • Not all will fit

first class receiver gps, glonass, galileo

an excellent device that can receive geoposition data from all satellite systems without exception. Including Glonass and Galileo. The Windows based software supplied with the unit allows configuration for any use on any system that has a USB port and conforms to any of the three NMEA specifications. And yes, it works fine on Linux too. Linux configuration can be a bit tricky depending on the kernel you are using.

Pros
  • pretty
Cons
  • ugly packaging

Great product - great service

I was so pleased with every aspect of this purchase. I'm familiar with Garmin units (owned 4 units) used outdoors, but thought I'd try this indoors with my laptop. Although Galileo, the latest addition to the GNSS satellite systems, is absent, for most practical purposes the accuracy for a commonly used location does not require additional accuracy adjustments using the 'look' function. For the price and flexibility of use, it's hard to beat for the foreseeable future.

Pros
  • Consistent test results
Cons
  • Waiting too long

Very delicate but clumsy user interface

For Windows, you need to download and install the "u-center" software from ublox website. The u center display is a messy wreck of a train and difficult to set up. 3 stars. It is very sensitive and receives many satellites several hundred kilometers away, including Russian GLONASS satellites. It even picks up satellite in my top floor apartment, so I don't have to go outside or onto the roof. If it's possible to set it up to receive Galileo satellites, I haven't figured out how.

Excellent GPS working via COM port and via Windows 10 Location API

I was looking for an external USB GPS navigator that would work with the Maps app for Windows 10 (with offline maps) as well as other apps that use the serial port. This device is perfect for this purpose and u-blox provides drivers for both the Windows 10 Location Sensor API and the COM port. If you install both drivers, the Windows Sensor Device Driver and the VCP (Virtual COM Port) driver from the u-blox website, you can use it for Windows 10 Maps (and other applications that rely on the…
