Great little radio. Reception is good on all bands. The sound quality is good for a device of this size. The weather alert system basically constantly scans for weather frequencies and locks the radio into standby mode. The radio cannot be tuned to AM or FM in weather alert mode. At first I was skeptical 1. because it is not a brand name and 2. the price is cheap. Much to my surprise, this little device was exactly what I was looking for to take with me on a hike! It is very light and can use AAA or AA batteries even though it says AA batteries. The sensitivity of this radio is amazing! AM stations are crystal clear during the day!
