Nice looking grinder

The suction cup could not stay on the granite countertop, it required several frustrating uses. After I mashed the nuts, they came out nice and fluffy, but when I was done I found about 3 tablespoons of large, partially mashed nuts. Because the front chute slopes downward, the cutterhead does NOT appear to be able to fully chop all of the nuts. Very disappointing.

Pros
  • understandable even for the old
Cons
  • Crumpled

Broke after a few months

Only complaint is the suction cup doesn't hold the grater on my marble slab as well as I would like. So I have to make an effort to keep it in place by squeezing while turning the crank on hard cheese. But it certainly makes quick work of the Parmesan wedge and turns the pickle into chunky slices. UPDATE: After a few months, the plastic handle came loose from the spindle and the grater became unusable. They threw him in the trash.

  • Expensive but decent

Exactly what I was looking for

Exactly what I was looking for. When I was growing up we had a drum grater. It was easy and effective. It was the closest I could find with the same level of durability and quality. I quickly tried slicing cucumbers, grating carrots, and grating walnuts. Easy to use, easy to change drums and easy to clean with a vegetable drum cleaning brush. Faster and safer than using a regular hand grater. I wanted to buy a food processor for these tasks, but it seemed overkill for the quantities I was…

  • There's something in there

Highly recommended despite suction problems

I gave this product 5 stars because in this type of product you can grind nuts better than in a food processor. Food processors release the oils in the nuts, and if you accidentally process too much, you'll end up with nut butter. This grinds the nuts and no oil comes out. I've used a similar Swedish grinder for years, for example when a cookie recipe calls for ground almonds. My Swedish coffee grinder, on the other hand, was pressed firmly against the edge of the counter. Westmark relies on…

Probably not worth bothering with

There are enough flaws in this product that I feel I have to throw it away. I don't hate it, but it's hard enough to use that I almost feel like it's not worth it. So far I've had sliced mushrooms, grated cheese and grated ginger. The slicer cuts into very thin slices. I was hoping for a more average piece. Loved the cheese grater. It was quicker than using a standing grater and I liked that it produced very large chunks of cheese. It's been a ginger nightmare, which is to be expected from…

Very good grater, I am very satisfied -- 12/02/16: NO MORE!

This is a really well made device with a nice design. (Think German engineering) It's better than the Kitchen Aid Mixgrater, which shreds plastic into your food if you're not careful - I dropped the Kitchen Aid attachment. It rubs quickly and cleans easily. I use it whenever I need to grate more than just some cheese (or other food). The suction cup handles fit snugly on top. as built. This makes it very easy to use and leaves your hands free to feed food to grate or slice and turn the handle…
