Beautiful stone at a great price.

This is a quality sharpening stone at a reduced price. It's just as good as other stones that sell for a lot more. Although this stone is perfectly good, I gave it 3 stars for 'easy to use' and 'beginner' for two reasons: 1. These stones require some study to use them successfully.2. This comes without instructions. You can fix the lack of instructions by watching a YouTube video explaining how to sharpen a stone. However, some guidance should have helped.

Instructions NOT included (but watch video)

This is a good product for the price of the more expensive Revain identical products. BUT, AMAZING, there are no instructions in the kit. Fortunately, YouTube has a very good video. I'll add a link to YouTube here, but if searching YouTube doesn't work, then "grindstone". There are many. The one for this exact product is from Culinary Obsession and runs 4.01 minutes. What's still not entirely clear is how to use the guide, but it's not really needed. #how to use a whetstone

Delivery is not an afterthought - arrived broken

It's functional - that's the best I can say. Apparently no one bothered to pack and ship it carefully. The whetstone itself broke off at the corner, so it still works. The rubber retaining clip had come loose from the base and was dangling. The planing/repair stone was downright broken and therefore unusable. Had these parts arrived intact it would have been a good product for sure. There is no way I will follow the returns/returns policy for a broken item like this. Bottom line: pay a little…
