I use this as a stopwatch, not a countdown timer, and it's great for espresso timing. It's kind of weird that the display is always on, there's no off button. I use it two or three times a day but I've only had it for three months. Build quality is good, the buttons don't feel cheap. I chose this timer because it uses a regular, inexpensive AAA battery instead of "button" cells. I am very satisfied with the large display and the simple controls.

As I am blind, high contrast and large fonts are very important to me, ESPECIALLY in the kitchen! I like this timer because I can see the numbers very clearly even without the backlight. Sometimes I have to twist a little to make sure it's not obscured, but other than that it does exactly what I need it to. It's loud but not shrill. The on/off mechanism is a little counterintuitive, but once you get used to it, it's a great little timer. A must for visually impaired cooks!

I bought my first two years ago and it has greatly reduced food burning. I clip it to my clothes so I can take it with me on chores and not worry about not hearing it when I go to the mailbox and chat with my neighbor (yes, that still happens!). This unit is advertised as being very noisy. I can hear from almost every room in our house which is why I bought it. A little tip: on the right side of the device there is a small slide switch that needs to be pushed down before the device will work.
