I really like this spinner. I've bought several over the years. They work very well for yarn cakes that you want to work on the outside (instead of center draw skeins). It turns relatively well considering it's wood on wood, so there's friction. No burrs, smooth. Will not stick to your yarn. I bought this for $20 after seeing a handmade yarn holder at my local $40 yarn store and thought that I don't have to spend that much for a yarn holder. If I had to make it again I would just buy a handmade one. This is not the color shown on Revain. It's lighter and the wood looks cheap. It all seemed rough and prickly. You cannot use it this way as it will snag your yarn. I had to take it apart and go over it with 2000 grit sandpaper to make it super smooth, like homemade. It's a bit crooked,
