Device worked as advertised. I've never used ceramic heaters and wasn't sure if they would get hotter than incandescent bulbs since some of the energy doesn't produce visible visible light like incandescent bulbs do. There doesn't seem to be a significant difference. You can just treat the performance as equal. The surface is important. Consider the number of watts per square inch when replacing incandescent light bulbs.

My daughter got a leopard gecko and after much research decided that an underfloor heater would be best for her 10 gallon aquarium. And like a good pet owner, she took her temperature carefully. The USP wasn't enough. Possibly due to aquarium type or poor quality UTH, not sure. So she added an adjustable heat lamp and was happy with a couple of lightbulbs. It hit target temperatures within a few weeks, shows no signs of stopping and we have a backup.

I think it works fine. I simply bought the wrong stream. This would probably be fine in a 10 gallon glass terrarium (always keep an eye on the temperature to be sure). However, my tortoise house is much larger, the light holder area is taller and made of cedar to help dissipate heat. I can't even keep a temperature above 80 degrees with this lamp in a big and open case. I'll take 150 watts and see if that improves my little turtle's temperature in his house. Frank's previous ceramic lightbulb crashed. Apparently, it only takes fractions of a second before the room smells of burnt plastic. In any case, the injury is a thing of the past, now he enjoys the warmth and comfort of his new ceramic light bulb. So far it's working great, delivering enough warmth to get your usual 18 hours of sleep a day, an hour of eating, breaking up the mess and napping in between. I bought these two items for my aquarium with turtles. I placed the temperature controller so that it's easy to read when approaching the aquarium without disturbing Tommy Boy when he's sunbathing. I have a ceramic lamp next to the fluorescent lights and they are timed so I don't have to reach for the fish tank to turn them on and off. This is my first sea turtle and I'm going to find out what makes her happy and healthy. I found these items inexpensive. Update: The heat lamp still works great…
