The first thing that caught my eye was the build quality of the carpet. The mat feels very durable and the point where the cable connects to the mat is solid. I turned the temperature dial all the way up and let it sit for an hour before checking the temperature with an infrared thermometer. Some areas of the mat were warmer than others, but I believe the heat is somewhere between 130 and 145 degrees Fahrenheit. After researching we decided to offer a solution to maintaining the temperature of the habitat with a reptile heating mat. The carpet was much thinner than expected which is great. I was hoping this heating pad would work as advertised as a squirrel heat source for reptiles and small animals, but when it arrived in the mail today there were no instructions at all.
