Savings on painting

This watercolor set is perfect for those who want to learn to paint. I even tried to reuse the dried paste on my palette. It's doable, but plan ahead. Make sure the pastes have pooled in the center of the wells before removing them. Put water in the indentations beforehand to soften the dried pastes. If you do this it will be like new.

Pros
  • Don't waste too much time
Cons
  • Discontinued

i felt sad :( for colors

The colors were ok when I took the samples out of the tube so I thought the colors were ok. But when I emptied the tubes into the container to use the three colors , yellow, white and brown were just colored water and only a few were thick enough to resist plaque even after stirring to mix the binder all separated. There were also inconsistent amounts in each vial. I would happily return , but it's been 30 days already. Sorry :(

Pros
  • Pretty packaging
Cons
  • Infinitely sluggish

Colors are more vibrant than I expected given it was cheap. I made pots out of it because I tend to lose color when using it from a tube. I hate the bad smell, both straight from the tube and the pots, but as the painting dries the smell dissipates. Like pans, they're more likely to break, just like mine. The paint is not affected in any way; Quality, color and usability remain good. Would I buy them again? Yes.

Pros
  • Enjoyable
Cons

Not bad for the price

Pretty good Chinese watercolors, very opaque, very pigmented, works best with Chinese brushes. These brushes will hold much of the water you need for these watercolors. normal watercolor brushes just can't pick up these colors to make long strokes. I have used rice paper with these colors and have had very good experiences. Now these paints are in tubes or very loose, not solid at all like most watercolor paints. I don't see this as a problem as I work with Chinese watercolor quite often.

Pros
  • Feels good
Cons
  • Vulgarity

Not as Good as Maria's

If you're looking for an inexpensive watercolor set, this set is just as good as any "college class". However, if you want to draw Chinese paintings on rice paper, these colors lack the transparency, light tones, and beautiful graininess of Chinese Mari colors. They have a heavy, dull appearance. I've tried them on mixed paper, rice paper, and Arches watercolor paper. I have also compared them to the professional Windsor Newton, Daniel Smith & Sennilier watercolors that I use for my Westernโ€ฆ

Buy them, try them, but know what to expect.

I have been using these watercolors for 2 years (not often) and I am ready to tell you everything. As an inexpensive watercolour, they serve their purpose, but there are some important tips/limitations to using each colour. The pigment and consistency are not the same for all, so I checked them one by one and included photos to illustrate my point. Cracks/chips in paint).19 Scarlet is a smooth texture and a very bright color that can be used with any amount of water with good results. 25โ€ฆ
