Technically you may need these valves

Since you are not legally allowed to vent significant amounts of refrigerant/oil into the atmosphere how are you going to disconnect and clean the gauge hoses? They allow you to close the valves and then reconnect to the drain to the recovery tank or, as some do, allow it to be sucked into the bottom of the compressor. Yellow Jacket consistently sells a reliable product at an affordable price.

Yellow Jacket 93842 Mini Ball Valve (Qty 3)

These YJ 93842 Brass Angle Check Valves are very convenient and often the only way to connect a hose to equipment service ports. These valves are supplied in packs of three, but can also be purchased individually if desired. They are designed for a working pressure of 800psi and can therefore be used with R410A. I don't know if these valves are vacuum proof, but I see a lot of people using them for vacuuming and have used them myself on occasion.

Hopefully it's just because they haven't been used in a while and the seals just need to swell a bit. I also hope to still be able to use them to get the vacuum out. It seems that for the price they should be of the best quality and a…
