great dripper - Kitchen & Dining

I have a cone dripper (v60 fake) and Kalita 102. This dripper made me realize that I like the Melitta style more than the cone. The 2-hole apiary-style dripper seems to strike a good balance when compared to the 1-hole Bonmac and 3-hole Kalita 102, but is very similar to the latter. I like the window on the side so I can see your level, but one thing that's a little annoying with apiaries is some instability with very large cups, although regular sized cups are fine.

Pros
  • New to my collection
Cons
  • Long time

Check your cup size!

I assumed the description said 3 to 3.5 inches for the inside diameter of the cup, WRONG! I prefer the BRCC "Perfect Coffee Mug" mug and the base of this dripper is too small for it. 0.3.5 inch is the absolute maximum outside diameter this dripper will fit. 2.77 inches is the minimum inner diameter a cup can have and still fit securely. The cup is inside the "stability ring" at the bottom of the pipette.

  • Negative impression

Even "big " is small

Measure cups carefully. This dripper, although labeled "large", requires a cup no wider than 3.25 inches. I have a few Starbucks mugs like "Venti" ceramic mugs and a collection of their 16oz City Scenes mugs that are too wide to use with this dripper. I expect most high capacity mugs to be oversized. This greatly reduces the versatility of this dripper in my opinion. It makes great coffee, if not better than other drippers, and I kept it because I have travel mugs that fit better than myโ€ฆ

I love this coffee dripper

Although it took a while to get from Japan, I'm soooo glad I bought it. First, it was nicely packaged by the seller. I was afraid to travel like it might break. NO! The seller has placed enough buffer packaging to hold the goods. Although the coffee leaks faster than other cases we've had, I corrected this by pouring the first batch and then pouring again for a richer flavor. I LOVE IT. Now you may have to reheat the coffee after the second brew, but I found it worth it. I also like that youโ€ฆ

The dropper arrived broken.

This could be an overview of a Revain run, but it could be a third party. The pipette arrived without protection and with the bottom torn off. I'll replace the one I broke myself. I have been using this product for a long time and I consider it the best and most practical dripper because through the holes in the base you can see the height of the dripping coffee in the mu. Dropper. The biggest problem with the drip is how fragile it is. Pottery is cheap. I've been through several of them, mostโ€ฆ

LOVE IT. I had a smaller coffee filter.

LOVE IT. I had a minor IV for 12 years and then I dropped it. It looked large when it arrived and I was concerned it might not sit well on the mug as the smaller one fits snugly around the rim of the mug. I'm often in a hurry and trying to do three things at once, so I didn't feel like grabbing my IV and knocking it off. I'm getting used to it now and it's perfectly safe on a mug (a large Starbucks mug) and I treat it like it's something special (don't wave my arms). My coffee tastes better. Iโ€ฆ

Accepts standard filters, great coffee, doesn't fit in some cups

Overall this is a great dripper with a few caveats. Pros: It comfortably accepts standard coffee filters, makes very good coffee, and looks decent. The Bad: It doesn't fit many different sized cups. This mug only fits mugs with a hole diameter (wall to wall) of 2.5" to 3.5". If it is too small, the inner lip will not fit in the cup and it will become unstable. If it's too big, the outer "wings" won't be wide enough and it'll slip and tip over. Take a look at your mugs before you buy them orโ€ฆ

Easily brews a cup of coffee

I purchased this in March 2016 along with a French Press. As a former user of automatic drip coffee makers, I wanted to start using something more useful than the hard-to-clean machines that are so common in every home. I've read a lot of pros and cons of french press vs coffee filters and? (You name it) and decided to try this apiary and French press. I bought CoffeeSock Drip #2 Cone-GOTS reusable coffee filters made from GOTS certified organic cotton (I didn't want to buy disposable filtersโ€ฆ

Great coffee, could be more versatile with mug sizes

Chemicals could mess with my coffee every morning added when I pour hot water on the plastic. This cone makes a great cup of coffee, smooth and rich (I use about 2 teaspoons per mug, three for a large travel mug) and I can drink it without worrying about chemicals. It's also slightly faster than the plastic. I love the windows that show how full the mug is - that's a great idea and I don't know why all the cones don't have them! My only issue is that the base isn't very versatile and fits a lot

Pros
  • Diameter 117mm (4.6") Height 103mm (4") x Width 150mm (5.9") including handle
Cons
  • Cord shorter than other picks
