Great Heat Lamps for Reptile Owners

Based on our own experience, these heat lamps have provided perfect warmth for our terrarium. The lamps are easy to install and have a long lifespan which makes them a great investment.

Pros
  • Pro: Provides optimal heat for reptiles
Cons
  • Con: Incandescent bulbs can get hot and may require constant monitoring.

Good when they work, good for large terrariums

Lamps work well when they work. All reptile bulbs usually hit or miss. Sometimes they burn out in a week, sometimes in a few months. This is one of the few 150w daylight bulbs I've been able to find for a reasonable price. To heat a 50 gallon tank requires such a large heat source. Like I said, they're good when they work.

Pros
  • Ideal lamp for night heat with very little visible light
Cons
  • Not the best

Toasty - BIRDS dig it

I use this over the corner of my parrot cage in a 5.5" Fluker clamp light. The top of the cage and the bird perch are about 4 inches below the top of the cage. So I'd say 10 inches or more - not less - is a comfortable distance from your feathered friends. It emits a soft purple-blue glow. I turn it off during the day to prolong its lifespan as my birds are out of the cage all day before bed.

Pros
  • Heavy duty filament provides hours of run time
Cons
  • I vaguely remember
