Not as hot as warnings sound

Heating cable ordered for reptile application, so far so good. The cable is nice and flexible and clearly marked where the heated part starts. It heats up pretty quickly, which is nice. I found it odd how many warnings there were in the instructions when the cord was never anywhere near hot to touch. My thermometer read 100-110F, although it can get even hotter if rolled up tight. I suspect the warnings have more to do with insurance.

Holds my fermentation temperature!

Now that the temperature has dropped and my proofers are in my garage, this item will hold the set temperature with no problems. Freezer. In the summer I moved them from the basement to the garage and switched from the RANCO temperature controller to the STC-1000, which I flashed with the STC-1000+ firmware. Temperatures have dropped to freezing lately and those heating cables (I have two temperature chambers) have worked great to keep the fermentation at the exact temperature I want. I was…

I brew my own beer and was looking for a way to heat my fermenter during the winter months. I saw a few other people commenting positively on this cable to that end, so I bit the bullet and bought it. I have a Ranco thermostat and I plugged this cord into a heater outlet. I used magnetic clips to strategically hang the cable in the chest freezer I use (also connected to Ranco) and was amazed at how effective this little cable was in getting my fermentor to the right temperature!
