So far, so good. I bought this for a small faucet basin

So far so good. I bought this for a small Betta aquarium. So far I've tried three or four "hanging" type filters and they all failed after a while for one reason or another. Having had luck with a much larger remote filter on a 50 gallon tank, I decided to put this somewhat similar smaller filter on a 2 gallon tank. It has worked great so far and also freed up space in a small tank. Assembly was easy, all parts were there. I really liked how the pieces came together. I believe this filter was…

Quiet and compact for filters

I totally agree with another comment I read that said advertising this thing as a turtle filter was a huge marketing blunder. The capacity on it is too small for the huge litter that turtles are. But for nano aquariums of 10 gallons or less, that's fine. I have it plugged in and working with my 5 gallon. The Fluval aquariums have a built in filter and so far I am very happy with the results. I keep freshwater shrimp and maintaining constant water parameters is essential for them to thrive. The…

Great product, I recommend for a 10 gallon tank.

Was so glad I didn't listen to the bad reviews. This has made life much better for the turtles. I fill a 10 gallon tank half full and use this filtration system. I used to have to clean his pool every other day, now I have a good week with only half cleanliness. The pump is a little intimidating at first, but the instructions are simple and everything was put together in no time. Be tired when disassembling to clean, I would suggest doing this at the sink. When you turn off the pump and remove…

Ideal for small pools!

My idea for my small 5 gallon aquarium was originally for dwarf shrimp but since I started my hobby with fresh fish I decided to start with fish. Petco recommended five neon tetras for my 5 gallon aquarium. I picked up four neon tetras. I bought the fish on April 1st. I originally used a standard tank filtration system. It seemed oversized to me (its nominal value is between 5 and 10 gallons) and it takes up valuable space in the aquarium. So I was looking for mini canister filters and came…

Great when you know what you're getting

The range of canister filters for small aquariums is rather limited. This makes sense as this part of the market is crammed with "back hanging" filters and internal tank filters. Why bother with a canister filter for such a small aquarium when so many HOB filters work well and are cheaper? Quick Answer: This can be hidden so less gear is visible on the tank. I am very sensitive to the aesthetics of my aquariums and wanted the filter to be hidden. The filter itself is a well designed filter in…

Amazing results from these filters. (no turtles!)

I bought three of these to use in three 3.4 gallon aquariums with natural invertebrates (crabs, shrimp, snails, betta). After working with them for almost two months I was incredibly impressed with the quality, performance and price. I use caribsea eco-complete as a substrate and in one tank where I added old filter material the tank turned on IMMEDIATELY; the other two took monitored ammonia for about three weeks. I did a lot of research to find the best filter for my small aquarium and for my
