MyCrypto Wallet is a good wallet
MyCrypto wallet is a great wallet for users send and receive Ether and token on Ethereum blockchain. It is not hard to use and quite secure to store the fund. It needs to be improved in the future to compete with a great wallet like MyEtherWallet. I recommend people to use it (but don't put everything on it for your own security)
Pros
- - MyCrypto is a fork of MEW so it has the most of the best features of its ancestor product
- - It is very easy to use the wallet. With only a few steps, even the beginners can become professional MyCrypto wallet users
- - The UX/UI design is simple and very nice-looking. It gives me a very good feeling during my exploration on it
- - Sending and receiving Ether/tokens is very easy. The balance will automatically show up on the dashboard. We just need to choose the right one to send. Transaction fees can be adjusted before sending
- - It is surprising that this wallet let users change the languages in its setting. There are very few wallets offer this feature (and it's weird they don't). It is not really good but I'm appreciated
- - Users can access their accounts using different ways including using hardware wallets (such as Ledger or Trazor wallet), Metamask extension, Parity Signer or software key files
- - Its desktop app allows offline transaction so the assets will be secure from the online hackers
- - It offers a number of tools including sign & verify message, ENS domain, Interact with contracts, Check transaction status and broadcast transactions
- - It is an open-sourced projects so the community can develop around it
- - It is integrated with Shapeshift and 0x protocol so users can swap Ethers and tokens right on the website
- - Users can switch between Dark mode and Light mode based on their intention
- - Their support is very helpful. Their support page contain many useful information and their support can be reached in a timely manner
- - They introduce a few websites to help the users protect the community from scammy websites or application and that's awesome
- - Users control their own assets. The wallet does not store any information regarding the address, such as keystore file or private key
Cons
- - It is in its early age so there are not many features introduced now. Many interesting functions may be released in the near future
- - There desktop app is not so heavy but it takes an hour to download (I'm pretty sure I download other light program within a few minutes)
- - The main competitor, MyEtherWallet, offers a similar but better product and there are not many obvious reasons for users to switch to MyCrypto wallet
- - Everytime I want to do some function, I have to be logged out from the website and connect again to use the functions
- - MyCrypto wallet cannot recover keystore files or private key if the user lose them
