Run calmly, run deep!

Holy cow! 30,000 gallons out of my pool in just 11 hours! Here are the details; When I received the pump I was a bit worried at first because the box was quite crumpled in one corner, but the contents of the box were perfect. The included 25ft 1 1/2" hose was really good strong quality and was obviously reinforced with some sort of molded plastic cording. It also came with clips to attach it to the pump. The fact that this pump has a 25 foot power cord made it safer to tie a rope to it and lower it off the diving board without worrying about the plug falling in the water. I had to pump water 110 feet down the drain. and over a 6 foot high block wall. I bought some connectors, clamps and extra hose at my local big box store and used a length of semi-rigid pool vacuum hose to get over the wall. The hose I bought wasn't nearly as good as the piece that came with the pump so I used it as a 'push' up and out of the pool to the deck and extended it from there with cheaper hoses . When I connected the pump it didn't have the expected volume until I cut off the smaller part of the outlet fitting (adapter) leaving only the larger part that clamps to the hose. I then restarted the pump and it quickly inflated the entire 110 foot drain hose and blew a greasy jet of water from the end down the drain. After about 11 hours the pool was empty and the pump switched itself off when the swimmer went down. My pool shop charged $1,500 to drain my pool, pressure washer and chlorine flush the surface, and top off and balance the water. I did all the work for just under $300 including the extra tubing and all the chemicals and this pump made it possible. I've also used it to pump out all the water from a pressure washer, as well as to wash and rinse water with chlorine. While I expect it to work great the next time I need it, even if it never starts again, I'm WAY ahead of the game. It was a great deal. There are other vendors that sell a pump that looks exactly like this on Revain for less, but they don't come with that heavy duty drain hose and clamps, so I think it was worth the couple of bucks more. Just make sure you use a good heavy duty extension and keep it as short as possible if you have to go more than the 25 feet the pump has to travel.
